Overview:
Skilly is an Irish edtech startup focused on upskilling employees and students through an interactive, digital-first platform. After launching shortly before the 2020 pandemic, the business had to pivot fast, shifting from a singular training product to a broader learning ecosystem. To reflect this evolution, I was brought in to lead a full-scale website redesign that clarified Skilly’s value proposition, repositioned its brand for B2B and B2C markets, and dramatically improved user experience.

Approach & Process:
With a prior relationship through brand development, I was re-engaged to audit the live site and consult on a phased redesign. I worked hands-on across strategy, UX and design, guiding the founder through the process of repositioning the business online.

Key phases included:
Discovery & Consultation: Deep-dive sessions with the founder to unpack new business goals and user needs
Competitor & UX Audit: Market positioning review, plus a site-wide UX and content audit
Web Architecture & Wireframing: Clear site map and user flows to streamline conversion paths
Brand Refresh & Visual Design: New layout, typography, and design system to support emerging product offerings
Copywriting & Content Strategy: Refocused messaging to speak to dual B2B and B2C audiences
Developer Collaboration: I worked closely with Skilly’s developer, aligning mockups with custom-coded execution
QA & Iteration: Hands-on quality control of the live build, with agile revisions to meet changing scope

As the process continued, I also completed quality checks on the translation of mock-ups to live site and made adjustments where necessary to fit the code requirements, and also changing demands. Initial conversation to a relaunched website was a 2-month process. The work was a continuation from a branding project and led to a 4 year working relationship.
