Poster Design and Instagram takeover
Bringing creativity to small town at Christmas time.
This project was for the Portarlington Art Collective in my hometown in Laois in Ireland. A new group formed to celebrate all the talented creatives in Portarlington and set their sights on a launch event in December to explode onto the scene.
The Collective approached me and was looking for branding specifically for the event - PAC01 - with the intention that every event will have its own diversity to echo the differences in the group. And one more caveat - yes it was December but the jolly reds and greens of Christmas were to be avoided at all costs. I love a colour challenge.
I worked up some options based on the references they gave me of grunge/pop style festival posters - usually with bold colour choices and display fonts with character.

Design concepts for PAC01 event
As with many concept pitches, the Collective chose a little from column A and a little from column B and we combined the graphic colour blocks with colour treated images of iconic buildings in the town centre to give a sense of place.
Over a month, PAC01 was promoted on social media, which I also provided as a service, posting, creating templates for feature artists to share on their own channels and Stories and Lives from the event. One highlight was an Instagram Page Takeover to encompass the giant print poster with details of all 3 days and the sponsors, key for a cultural project like this with official backing.

The social media was well received and the organisers loved the distinct designs as the posters appeared on posters in shop windows and on local billboards.
